Remember when your mother first introduced you to skincare products? Times have changed, haven’t they? There are a lot more choices these days, but it seems the beauty product industry has lost touch with the simple things in life.
I look at what they are putting into these products and wonder what it will do not only to my skin, but my health as well. After all, we absorb things through our outer layer don’t we? I went on the hunt for a safe, most effective skincare and was pleasantly surprised.
I was more than surprised, relieved. Seriously. Take a look at the label on a product you are using every day. What do you see listed on that label? You may see one of the top offenders, glycerin. What’s wrong with that, you may ask. As I mentioned before, we absorb toxins through our skin, but that is also one way our body removes them. Glycerin coats these areas, which can trap the toxins beneath the surface.
There is also a high alcohol content in the majority of creams and lotions I have researched. And I wonder why. That dries out the area. Is that why there’s all that petrolatum added?
The safest skincare products I have found are botanical, or plant based. Essential oils, derived from nature are used, not synthetically manufactured ingredients. These products are not only safe, but highly effective as well in hydrating, without leaving a thick layer of what I call grease behind.
Extracts from common sources we recognize as safe are also used, such as coconut oil, not petroleum.
So, the most effective skincare should also be the safest as well. I no longer worry about what is in the creams and lotions I am using. It’s right there on the label, and there’s no need for an interpreter either.
In a nutshell, getting reliable skincare products that produce results means getting back to the basic, simple things in life.
